Stories of Food Justice

What is food justice? What does it look like, feel like, and taste like? Hear diverse voices across sectors of food banking, organizing, labor, and policy work illustrate what food justice means for them. Through table discussions, we will then collaboratively define what it means for us, as we work and learn together to close the hunger gap in our communities.

Presenters:
Susannah Morgan, Oregon Food Bank
Leona Davis, Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona
Joann Lo, Food Chain Workers Alliance
Robert Ojeda, Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona
Claudio Rodriguez, Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona
Melissa Mundt, Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona
Frank Tamborello, Hunger Action LA

Reception

Tuesday, September 15

6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

This isn’t your ordinary reception, it’s not going to be faux-fancy but a party!  We’ll be celebrating at the Portland Mercado, a public market that celebrates Latino culture through food, entrepreneurial development, and art.  The Mercado has supported the launch of 20 new businesses creating access to healthy and delicious foods. Savor the flavors of Latin America, sip on a local brew, visit the vendors, and dance a little bachata.

If that’s not enough to convince you, there will be piñatas.
