Action Hubs

Actions Hubs focus on five key strategies to advance the goals of the Closing the Hunger Gap movement.

  1. Position Food Banks and Food Programs as Public Health Institutions
  2. Build local food systems and community economies
  3. Grow our capacity as community organizers and social justice advocates
  4. Collaborate for Clients: Wrap-around Services
  5. Advocate for the conditions that support community food security

These strategies derive from actions planned by teams at the 2013 CTHG conference in Tucson. The hubs aim to, at least initially, support those teams in their planned actions. Action hubs are convened by Leadership Team members and focus on a variety of campaigns and projects.

Purposes

  • Connect food banks and community food system advocates around issues and campaigns at a national level
  • Support and spur innovation
  • Share success stories and best practices
  • Continue momentum created at 2013 conference and build toward 2015 Conference
  • Create a unified national agenda among food banks and food programs
